Brief Observation.

I have noticed that when we scream “black lives matter”, they hear “so white lives don’t?”

I have noticed that when we plea “give us gun control. We want background checks, and mental health evaluations”, they hear “take away every rifle, never give them back, burn the second amendment, and from its ashes create a protest sign”

I have noticed that when we say that LGBTQ people should be represented and respected as human beings, they hear the sound of their conservative values being ripped from their cold homophobic hands.

I have noticed that they do not hear us.

I have noticed that when we say we support planned parenthood because of the resources that it offers and the help it provides, they hear “kill every unborn child” .

I have noticed that they do not hear us.

I have noticed that they don’t believe a problem exists because it does not affect them.

I have noticed that women begin to dress comfortably, and confidently, and they see “whore”.

I have noticed that as a Muslim woman walks down the street, the sun bouncing off of her skin, her hijab as beautiful as the flowers, and her smile as bright as the clouds, they see “terrorist”.

I have noticed that they do not see us.

I have noticed a black man entering an elevator, and a white woman clutches her purse holding it almost as close to her heart as he holds his morals. He will not rob her, but she sees a “theif”. A “thug”. She does not see him.

They do not see us.

They do not see us, but we will stand in their presence until they have no choice. We will become our ancestor’s imaginations. They will hear us, our voices louder than their prejudices. They will listen and our cries will not be muffled by their hatred. We will not ask to be heard, we will demand that we are listened to.

Just a brief observation.
